Mother’s Day is always special to me. First, I can honor my mother for bringing me into this world. Second, I can honor my sisters, girlfriends, and spiritual mothers who have also had a great impact on my life. Third, Mother’s Day took on an entirely new dimension when I became a stepmother, grandmother, and great grandmother. For all the women in my life, I am so grateful.

In 1995 I asked a medical intuitive, Ruth Berger, why I chose not to have children in this lifetime. After looking deep into my eyes, here is what this insightful woman said to me:

Well, in a former life in the early 1900s, you lived in poverty in the Smoky Mountains. Starting at age fourteen, you had three husbands who died. You gave birth to twenty-two children, many of whom died from disease and poverty. You were so affected by the grief that you vowed you would never do that again. And how could you be the mother of the world if you had so many other responsibilities?

I had no idea what this woman was talking about, but I received my first divine download three days later. Over the next six months, I was awakened at 3:30 in the morning three or four days a week and received transmissions. This information guided my spiritual growth and evolved into the Blueprint for the Human Spirit®, my first “baby.” Sharing its sacred wisdom and practical guidance is now my passion and purpose. Since then, I have given birth to several books, programs, a healing modality, a one-woman show, blogs, recordings, and meditations.

I’m so grateful for the Blueprint, my inner teacher. And I am also thankful for all the spiritual mothers and sisters who have guided my growth. They supported and encouraged me to be authentic and allow my creativity to flow. With their support, I became one of the founding mothers of a women’s program a Unity of Naples. After facilitating this sacred sisterhood for seven years, I packaged the program and shared it with other spiritual communities including Unity of Fort Myers.

As Mother’s Day approaches, I am thrilled to honor my birth mother. She is 90, has dementia, and lives with us during the winter months. She keeps me on my toes and reminds me when it is time for our daily walk and meals. Because she lives in the moment, she is helping me to do the same. I am learning how to balance my life better, juggle family responsibilities with my JoyWork. I also credit my intelligence, love of reading, and organizational skills to her. Undoubtedly, these qualities are helping me share the Blueprint with the world.

Mother’s Day is also a perfect time also to honor the divine feminine, the creative spark, inner knowing, art of allowing, nurturing, and healing within all of us. This sacredness is not gender-specific but is a part of everyone. Though it is feminine in nature, this powerful force is not weak or subdued. It softly and gently creates beauty and harmony. It also contains the potential to heal the earth and uplift all humanity.

Happy Mother’s Day!
