One sure-fire way to control chaos and manage change is to be positive. We cannot change others and control how they think, feel, and behave, but we can change ourselves. Even when others promise to change, we know that may not happen.

We also cannot control what is going on in the world or even prevent certain things in our lives. However, we can alter our perceptions and reactions. When we choose to view what happens with new eyes, we can transform negatives into positives. A shift in awareness can create a whole new world, one filled with happiness and contentment.

Change Begins Within

Change begins within. To create a peaceful world, we must first create peace within. Instead of focusing on what is wrong with everyone and everything around us, we can stay centered. We can focus on our abundant divine inheritance instead of what is lacking in our lives. When everything is falling apart around us, when the world is filled with violence, political turmoil, and financial decline, we can choose to see the good.

Instead of looking at what is wrong, we can view challenges as opportunities. When we realize that each lesson expands our awareness, we can embrace these so-called tests. They open us to new ways of thinking, feeling, and acting. Then, we can bring all aspects of our being into alignment with truth, with the essence of our being. Also, as we change how we respond to life’s trials, others cannot help but change with us.

Positive shifts within and in the energy that we send out into the world will ensure that others are uplifted. This is the greatest gift we can give to the world—our best self. Also, positive energy will come back to us in many forms. Good begets good. The key is to respond in positive ways.

Responses to Change & Chaos

We typically respond to stress and difficult situations in four primary ways. We can stick our head in the sand and do nothing, run away from our problems, worry and complain, or confront the source of our concerns. These four approaches create additional stress and are not productive. Which approach do you typically use?

We can transform these primary strategies into positive responses if we are aware. Here is how we can do this.

  • FREEZE: Instead of becoming paralyzed when chaos happens, stop. Pause in the presence of God. Take a few deep breaths and FORTIFY yourself.
  • FLEE: Instead of running away from what has happened and putting your head in the sand, FUSE with others and embrace the good.
  • FRET: Instead of complaining and focusing on what is wrong, step back. Look at yourself from a higher perspective and smile! Find FAVOR with something positive.
  • FIGHT: Instead of attacking others and blaming them for what has happened, go with the FLOW. What we resist persists!

Since the old mammalian brain kicks into action during times of chaos, it is difficult to change our beliefs and how we respond. The best approach is to pause and breathe. When we take a moment to center ourselves, we can shift into a positive mode and allow what is. Then we are free to respond in alignment with the truth of our being, with Essence.

Find the coveted still point within. When we are present, we can make a leap of FAITH. Then we can FLOWER, FLOURISH, and FLY.

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
